Why Music Together®?

I started my journey with Music Together in August 2009, successfully completing their teacher training course in Seattle, WA. After that fantastic experience, I was a believer. So much so that when my daughter was born, I had her in Music Together classes at the age of 4 months old in Burnaby, BC where we happily sang and danced through the Flute, Sticks and Maracas Collection.Relocating to my hometown of Mineville, NS in 2014 meant no more Music Together classes…until Eminflow Music Studio opened their doors in 2015 and became a licensed Music Together center!

Education & Teaching Experience

Emily’s Music Education and Teaching career has truly been an Across-Canada experience to date, taking her from Halifax, to Toronto, to Calgary, to Vancouver, and right back again to her hometown where it all began in Mineville, Nova Scotia. Emily officially began her teaching career at Bedford Elementary Academy in 2003, teaching piano lessons during their after-school program. During this time she was finishing her Bachelor of Music degree at Dalhousie University, majoring in Vocal Performance. Upon graduation, she went on to pursue the Artist Diploma in Voice Performance at the University of Toronto (U of T). While in Toronto, Emily taught Voice and Piano for 2 and 1/2 years at Lippert Music Centre Inc., and also taught for their Musical Theatre camp for 2 summers. Upon graduation from U of T, Emily lived in Calgary for a year and taught Voice and Piano lessons for Cornerstone Music’s 2007-2008 school year (now called Cornerstone Music Café).

Emily’s time in Burnaby, BC from 2008-2013 brought some truly rewarding career highlights, one of them being teaching Voice and Piano for Dancin’ Stars and High Note School of the performing Arts from 2009 – 2013. Dancin’ Stars gave her the opportunity of learning the ropes of Dance Administration. They also awarded her the responsibility of being Music Director for High Note, as well as co-teaching their Song & Dance classes. Another highlight for Emily happened in 2012 when she created and taught a course for Stylus College of Music & Sound Technology in New Westminster, BC called “Vocal Coaching Techniques for Producers”. Deeply committed to professional development, Emily continued her operatic studies while in BC with Heidi Klassen, founder of The Opera Project where Emily also took part in various opera productions and their Mastery Series courses.
